Stephen Richnak, 64, died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at his home in Godfrey. Born November 19, 1950 in Dubuque, IA, he was the son of Paul and Inez Richnak. Mr. Richnak retired after 40 years of service as a self-employed window, door and siding installer. He was active with the Alton Little Theatre and loved singing, theatre, sailing and entertaining people. On November 20, 1982 he married the former Candace “Candy” Stuart in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Matthew Stoddard (Tracy) of O’Fallon, MO, Joseph Richnak of St. Louis, MO, Catherine Jeffords (Chuck) of St. Charles, MO, and Daniel Richnak (Fernanda) of Seattle, WA, eight grandchildren, one brother, Michael Richnak of Pennsylvania, and two sisters, Mary Helfenberger (Gary) of Virginia and Judy Eckart (Dan) of Godfrey. A memorial visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or the Alton Little Theatre.
