To honor Martin Luther King, Alton youth volunteered at a local church. For some, Martin Luther King Junior day is another holiday that gets them off of work or out of school. But the ACES 4 Youth organization used the day to promote doing for others as it strives to give the youth of the community guidance toward a better way of life.
This year's service project involved moving some concrete cylinders and sweeping the parking lot of a church on Riley Avenue. ACES 4 Youth director Greg Norris says the youth of Alton are in need of more and better role models.
