Students from Southern Illinois Univeristy Edwardsville will attempt to break a world record set by the college a year ago during halftime of their first soccer game tonight at Korte Field. During the event, 1,800 fans will simultaneously pop the tops on cans of Pepsi according to SIUE Director of Marketing and Special Projects, NaDean Schroeder.

Schroeder says the event is a great way to introduce incoming students to the college and to SIUE Cougar Athletics. She also says anyone is invited to attend tonight’s match between SIUE and Oakland University. Tickets for the event are $7 for general admission, $5 for staff and senior citizens, $4 for students age 6 to 18 and free for children age five and younger. Kick off tonight at Korte Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
