There is a work day coming up in a week and a half to help transform an empty lot into a pocket park.  It is the space just west of the Jacoby Arts Center.  Downtown Alton leaders have wanted to clean up the space for a number of years, and now it looks like that will happen with a work day scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at 9am.

Main Street Executive Director Sara McGibany says right now, they are collecting plant donations.

McGibany comments

She says they don't want to create anything permanent, as the space will evolve over the next several years.  There is a possibility Jacoby could host classes or even performances on the lot in the future.  For more information, call 463-1016.
