The Wood River City Council has passed the tax levy for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, and it looks like residents will pay about the same as they did last year on the city portion of their bill. Residents had gotten used to lower city levies for the past 6 years. Last year's levy came in at about $2.1-million., which is on par with last year's number.
Finance Director Nancy Schneider says the police and fire pensions are not an issue in Wood River as they are in many other municipalities around the state.
She says they don't know what the multiplier is going to be yet, but in conversations with both the state and the township assessor, she has heard it will likely stay at 1%, just like last year.
