Wood River’s contract with Midwest Sanitation is set to expire soon, so the city council is seeking bids for the next contract period. The 5-year contract for garbage and recycling pick-up has been a good one, and the city is satisfied with the service provided by Midwest Sanitation, according to Public Services Director Steve Palen.

In other council business, an amendment to the economic incentive agreement with Jack Schmitt Chevrolet was approved, and the city will be sending a letter to Governor Pat Quinn asking him to veto a recently passed law that would limit what a municipality can charge to tap on to water and sewer service.
