Residents of Wood River have seen plenty of construction around town over the last couple of years, and may see some more if a couple of grant applications are successful. Steve Palen, Director of Public Services, says he would like to tackle another sewer separation project, this time in the area near East Alton / Wood River High School.

The most recent sewer separation project wrapped up last year after two years of work to fix the area on the east end of town bordered by 6th Street, 14th Street, Route 143, and the Roxana Village limits. Palen says he will apply for the competitive grants, but doesn’t expect to hear anything for at least 6 months.
