Wood River is entering into an agreement that could bring a medical marijuana grow facility to the EnviroTECH Business Park. Largo Meds, LLC has been in talks with the city, and the council gave its endorsement to the plan Monday night by a unanimous vote. There would be numerous financial perks that go along with the facility, according to the Mayor.
Fred Ufert told The Big Z in the contract, the company executives have agreed to give the city 5% of their gross revenue, minus property taxes.

They would also be offering grants to the local schools, Operation Blessing, and Riverbend Ministries. He says there would be more than 30 jobs that pay twice the minimum wage, complete with health benefits, and a security force approved by the Illinois State Police. It would be an indoor grow facility, located in the former tile factory. The state is expected to award licenses sometime in October.
