A Madison County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Wood River Police Officer, alleging that in his official capacity as a police officer he solicited a sexual act from a 29-year-old Wood River woman in exchange for assistance in an investigation.  Charged with one count of Official Misconduct, a Class 3 felony, is 32-year-old Jeremy J. Elliott.

Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons says acting quickly and seriously when a crime like this is alleged is the only right way to handle it.

Gibbons comments

Elliott is currently suspended without pay, and is looking anywhere from probation to 5 years in prison if convicted.  His bond is set at $50,000.
