Area residents may soon have another resource to get rid of their old, unwanted or out-of-date medicine.  The Wood River Police Department is considering setting up a drop box for residents to turn in their prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Wood River Police Chief Otis Steward says the idea is just in the talking stage right now.

There is already a drop box at the Alton Law Enforcement Center.  The Drug Enforcement Administration estimates more than 7-million Americans abuse prescription drugs.
