The body of a man found dead in a Wood River car wash stall has been identified. 28-year-old Kenneth L. Harris was discovered behind the wheel of a vehicle with Missouri plates, but Harris had been living in the city. The cause of death is unknown at this time, pending a full investigation by the Madison County Coroner's Office.
The investigation will include toxicology results, which is routine procedure. Authorities say at this point, all signs point to a heroin overdose with reported drug paraphernalia found inside the car. The man was found Tuesday morning inside a vehicle that was parked in a car wash at Central and Ferguson Avenue. Witnesses told police the car had been parked there since the overnight hours.
