The window to nominate area residents for the annual Women of Distinction Awards will only be open for a few more days, so event co-chairs are putting out a final call for nominations.  Since 1991, the YWCA of Alton has given special recognition to a number of women that are deemed worthy of the honor by a panel of judges charged with narrowing down what is usually an overflow number of applicants. 222 women have been honored since the program began.

Event co-chair Margaret Freer tells The Big Z the award recognizes those who have worked to improve the Riverbend community.
