A Granite City woman was indicted yesterday in connection with a heroin overdose earlier this year. A Madison County Grand Jury indicted 30-year-old Jessica D. Burris on one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X Felony. Burris was indicted for her alleged role in the death of Kyle J. Perry. Perry died at a local hospital from a drug overdose.

While awaiting toxicology reports in Perry's death, Investigators with the Granite City Police Department determined that Burris provided the heroin to Perry. Burris was originally charged with two counts of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Class 2 felony. Burris still faces both of the Unlawful Delivery charges along with the new Drug Induced Homicide charge. Burris remains in custody at the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville, where she is being held on a $100,000 bond.
