An Alton woman has been sentenced following her guilty plea to providing heroin to a man who overdosed.  24 year old Lisa Burch of the 700 block of Milton Road was ordered to serve two years probation on the conviction of aggravated battery for providing heroin to a man who was passed out.

The victim was rushed to a hospital and survived.  Madison County Circuit Judge James Hackett said before sentencing he took into consideration the fact that Burch has a job, is in a drug treatment program and has a newborn child but warned if she went back to her drug life she would end up in jail.  Burch has had several previous drug convictions in Madison County.  As part of the plea agreement, charges of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance were dropped.
