A St. Louis County woman has died, three days after allegedly being shot by man who was later killed by Alton Police on Monday evening.  27-year-old Melissa McCart of Affton was shot and critically injured on Sunday and died of her injuries on Wednesday night at a St. Louis hospital.

Authorities believe she was shot Sunday by 27-year-old Isaac Jimenez in the 9200 block of Mackinaw Drive in Affton.  Police say she had a restraining order against him.   Jimenez was the subject of a manhunt Sunday night into early Monday in Worden, where he once lived, but he was able to elude police.   Jimenez turned up Monday in a backyard of a home in the 3400 block of Lincoln Avenue in Alton where he was confronted by Alton Police, who say he had a weapon.  Jimenez reportedly failed to drop his weapon and he was shot and killed by police.  Illinois State Police are investigating the details surrounding the police involved shooting in Alton, while St. Louis County Police are investigating McCart’s shooting and subsequent death.
