The state’s climatologist says the weekend snow storm is one for the record books.  The storm swept through the midwest and central Illinois, dumping 12 point four inches on St. Louis, 18 point five in Springfield, and about 11 and a half in Champaign.  State climatologist Jim Angel says totals like that make up for a fairly dry winter.

Angel comments

Angel says it looks like Springfield set a record for the most snow ever in a 24 hour period, and certainly for any March 24 in Illinois history.
