It’s official, the Village of Bethalto has a new mayor. Alan Winslow took the oath of office during last night’s village board meeting, officially becoming the successor to Steve Bryant, who stepped down after 16-years in office. Winslow’s first act as mayor was to announce a resolution that changed the name of Culp Lane Park to Steve Bryant Park. The measure was approved unanimously.
Winslow says it is the perfect name for the park.
In addition to Winslow taking office, two new individuals were appointed to roles within the village. Brady Dugger was sworn in as a village trustee, taking the spot that was previously filled by Winslow and Jay Kilmer was named Public Works Director, following the retirement of Joe Ricci.
In other business, the board voted to reduce the number of Class A liquor licenses in the village by one, approved an ordinance that transfers jurisdiction of Moreland Road from Moro Road to Route 140 from Madison County to the village and announced that funding for phase 1 of the Central Street project has been secured.
