It was a wet May, and even wetter spring in Illinois.  State Climatologist Jim Angel says average statewide precipitation for May in Illinois came in at nearly six point nine inches.

Angel comments

Total average precipitation for March through May was nearly 16 point eight inches, making this spring the fifth wettest on record in Illinois.  The spring of 2012 was much drier, with only about seven point eight inches.
