Wet fields continue to stall spring planting.   Another cold and wet week across the state hasn’t helped planting progress. Corn planting remains at just one percent complete compared to 76 percent last year and 36 percent for the five year average. Just 32 percent of oats have been planted.

State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says some planting was reported in the central part of the state but the acreage planted was not substantial.  The average topsoil moisture is rated at 55 percent surplus and 45 percent adequate.
