The first signs of West Nile have popped up in Illinois.  A mosquito batch in St. Clair County has tested positive for the virus, according to State Department of Public Health spokesman Melanie Arnold.

Last year in Illinois, 44 human cases of West Nile were reported, including four deaths.  Arnold highly recommends wearing insect repellant and long sleeved shirts and pants when outside between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
