As temperatures fall during the winter season, many families see their energy costs rise. State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) wants you to know about a program that could help alleviate some of those costs. Beiser says the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program helps households with at or below 150-percent of the poverty level to reduce energy consumption and high utility bills.
IHWAP will cover up to $7,500 worth of major energy-related repairs should your house qualify. Those repairs could include air sealing, attic and wall insulation, furnace repairs or replacements, electric baseload reduction, and sometimes window or door work.
