Local tourism is expected to get an early season boost with the mild weather this weekend.  From Alton to Grafton, the Great River Road is a popular destination, especially in warmer weather, and visitors from around the region will try to break cabin fever.

Grafton Mayor Tom Thompson tells The Big Z tourism is the financial backbone of his town, and even though they have to deal with occasional flooding, it doesn’t control what they try to offer visitors.

Grafton had to deal with two major flood events in 2015, including one that closed out the year.  Thompson says he’s looking forward to new offerings in 2016 and expects it will be another good year for local business.
