A Jacksonville native will replace Jim Watson in the state legislature.   County chairmen chose C. D. Davidsmeyer to fill Watson's seat in the House for the next two years.  Davidsmeyer says he's ready to get to Springfield, fight the good fight, help find ways to create jobs, and get the state's business climate back on track.  He will take over the seat representing the 97th District that covers a portion of the River Bend.

Davidsmeyer is currently the Vice President and Operations Manager of the Illinois Road Contractors.  He's also served as 4th Ward alderman in the city and chairman of Jacksonville's Finance Committee.  Watson resigned last month to take over as director of the Illinois Petroleum Council.
