A study of ways to eliminate administrative fees associated with the new water and sewer rates for residents and businesses in Wood River was discussed prior to the City Council Meeting on Monday.  While eliminating the fees seems unlikely, a couple of scenarios were laid out to the council and audience.

Tracy Kennett, the city's Director of Finance, says the current administrative fee is $5 per billing period, and $3.28 for the sewer fund.

The council voted in March to hike the fees by a vote of 3-2.  The increases went into effect with the May bills, and some council members report fielding calls from residents once they received their bills.  The hikes were instituted in order to improve and maintain the infrastructure, according to Mayor Frank Akers.  No action was taken to adjust any rates.
