The new walking trail circling Wright Lake at Belk Park in Wood River should be done by late summer.  The cost of the project is about $200,000, of which Phillips 66 donated $100,000 last year.

Park & Recreation Director Jason Woody tells The Big Z the project has just begun.

In other council news, the city will be increasing wastewater service charges, which will mean increased costs for the neighboring communities that tie on to Wood River's system: Hartford, South Roxana, and Bethalto.  Those increases go into effect August 1 and will be at a rate of $3.08 per 1,000 gallons for Hartford and South Roxana.  In Bethalto, they will be charged the in-town rate of $2.83 for water and $5.00 for sewer per 1,000 gallons.
