Alton Mayoral hopeful Brant Walker will be in court in a week and a half to plead his case to be on the spring ballot before a judge. His campaign filed the necessary paperwork to start that process earlier this week. The date is Tuesday, February 19 at 1:30pm in room 247 at the Madison County Courthouse, and the proceedings will be open to the public.
Both Walker and the Alton Municipal Officers Electoral Board will have a chance to state their case. Last week the Electoral Board ruled Walker did not meet the requirements to run for the office - a claim Walker vehemently denies. Walker has also filed the paperwork necessary to run as a write-in candidate, in case he loses this appeal. Also running for mayor as a write-in is Jackie Morris. Gary King filed to run as a write-in for 7th Ward Alderman - a seat currently held by David Boulds.
