Alton's Wadlow Golf Course will close for good in less than two weeks, but there are signs of life for the course at Rock Spring Park. The golf course management team that had been running both agreed to continue operating the courses past April 1 in hopes the city could find a new team to take over the reigns, and it appears that plan is coming together.
Alton Golf Management entered into an agreement several years ago, but is getting out. Wadlow will close for good by April 22, but a deal is coming together for Rock Spring according to Alton Mayor Tom Hoechst.
In other city council business, the rules were suspended to approve an ordinance that will allow the construction of more new, affordable homes in the Mexico neighborhood. Another 30 homes in all will be built, but this action by the city council gets the ball rolling on the first seven. They will be built in the 900 block of Gold Street and the 700 block of Hampton Avenue.
