Madison County Circuit Clerk Mark Von Nida is recovering from a serious bicycle crash earlier this week. Von Nida was riding home from work on Tuesday when he crashed while riding on Edwardsville Street in Edwardsville, landing head first on the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet.
According to a report in the News Democrat, Von Nida said he was riding downhill and needed to stop for traffic and applied his front brake only, instead of front and back, and was thrown forward from his bicycle. Von Nida suffered a mild concussion, black eye, and sprained wrist and is taking a few days off work to recover. His message to future bicyclists…wear a helmet.
