The popular Christmas Lights on Paris Drive display was the topic of some controversy late last year. The now-multiple home display has been a fixture in the D'Adrian neighborhood of Godfrey for several years, but at least two neighbors have apparently had enough of the extra traffic and distractions it brings to their street. There will soon be an attempt at finding a solution that is agreeable to all parties.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says there are a couple of main concerns to address.
Village officials attempted to address the safety aspect of the added traffic by making Paris one-way near the display during the Christmas season. Donations collected at the display raised thousands of dollars, donated to both the Crisis Food Center and 5A's animal shelter.
