The Village of Godfrey is kicking off a program that will help both the homeowner and emergency personnel. It’s called “Be Found! - Stay Safe and Sound” and is designed to help residents who are 55 and older, veterans, the disabled, or anyone in need to maintain a physical address number on their home.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick tells the Big Z it’s good to see a local business step up to help out:

The program will cost the homeowner nothing and is voluntary. It is geared first toward those without actual numbers on their homes or those whose numbers are falling off or difficult to see from the road. The idea is that if first responders can find a home quickly, they can deal with an emergency that much faster and hopefully help save lives and property. The cost of the program is being split between Godfrey Public Safety Administrator Chris Sichra and St. Peters Hardware and Rental in Alton. Sichra will use his personal time to install the numbers.
