Hundreds of classmates, parents, teachers, family and other friends turned out last night for a candlelight vigil and balloon release in honor of Zack Hunter. The 16 year old Marquette Catholic High School junior died Sunday of injuries he sustained in a car accident on April 1. 

The vigil was held outside the East Alton Ice Arena where he played many hockey games.  Zack was also a member of the Marquette tennis team.  School chaplain Father Bill Kessler offered prayers with those assembled:

The visitation will be held at Marquette Catholic High School, Commons from 5:00pm-9:00pm, Thursday, April 21. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s – Alton, at 10:00am on Friday, April 22. Burial services will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Beltrees Road.

Arrangements are being handled through Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
