Veterans of the Vietnam War were often shunned as they returned home from combat, but much has been done in recent years to honor them. In 2011 the US Senate passed a resolution that March 30 would be "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day." Litchfield is hosting a "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans" parade tomorrow at 1:00 PM.

John "The Hat" Stewart is a member of the Illinois Patriot Guard. He says the parade will stage beginning at 12:15 at the old Sihler School at 601 South State Street in Litchfield.

Stewart comments

Before that, there will be a caravan that begins in Mt. Olive at the High School at 10am, moves on to Staunton, Sawyerville, Gillespie and Benld to place flags at the city memorials that honor their veterans. After they finish, they will caravan to Litchfield to join in the big parade.
