The Illinois Lottery is again running its Veterans Cash game. It’s an annual event, with instant tickets going on sale at the start of November. Since the game began in 2006, it has raised $9.5 million for veterans’ organizations statewide.  “It’s a way to support the many great organizations across Illinois [that] day in and day out help veterans overcome post-traumatic stress, lack of insurance, homelessness and a number of other challenges,” says Illinois Veterans Affairs Director Erica Borggren.

The tickets cost $3. Lottery retailers will wear buttons promoting the game, and retailers who are veterans themselves will get a special button. The game goes on until all 1.4 million tickets are sold. Top prize is $40,000.
