The Board of Education for the Alton School District is looking for a new member.  Long-time board member Mike Harris has resigned, as he has moved out of the district, leaving a vacancy on the board that needs to be filled.

School Board President Ed Gray tells The Big Z whoever they pick will serve until the next regular school board election to be conducted on April 4, 2017.

Applicants must provide their current residence in the school district, a letter indicating why you would like to serve on the school board and a list of your qualifications.  Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on September 30.  You should mail your application to Alton School District #11, attention Vivian Monckton, Secretary, 1854 E. Broadway, Alton, IL 62002.

The Alton School District is divided into four (4) townships (Alton, Godfrey, Foster and Wood River) for purposes of conducting school board elections.
