Traffic flow along US Route 67 has returned to normal after crews from the Illinois and Missouri Departments of Transportation reopened the lower lanes of the roadway late this morning. Crews from the Illinois and Missouri Departments of Transportation restricted traffic flow to one northbound lane earlier today to prepare for the reopening of the soundbound lanes, which took place just after 10 a.m.
The lower lanes of US 67 had been closed for a little over a week after the roadway had been covered by flood waters, but engineers found no significant damage after the water receeded and were able to reopen all lanes of the roadway today.
Further north, areas of Highway 94 will remains closed as crews wait for the North County Consolidated Levee District to remove barriers from the roadway. MoDOT says that could begin today but that they don't have a timetable for opening Highway 94 at this time.
