Legislation pending in the Illinois State Senate lifts the sales tax on feminine hygiene products in Illinois.  The bill is sponsored by State Senator Melinda Bush of Grayslake, and removes the six and a quarter percent sales tax on these items.

The bill also exempts incontinence products from sales tax.  The bill passed a Senate committee, although lawmakers are looking into whether the change can be made via rule instead of passing a new state law.
