The United Way of Greater St. Louis is better than halfway to reaching its goal of 72-million dollars as part of its 2013 fund raising campaign. Locally, the goal for the Southwest Illinois Division is set at $1.86-million, of which more than $700,000 has been raised. That money stays in the area, which is a big selling point for many donors, according to an agency official.
United Way spokeswoman Natasha Sakovich says the money raised here will serve dozens of organizations serving those in need of all ages.
The United Way is able to invest more than $1-million each week in the community each week to help more than a million people through the more than 170 agencies it funds. If you are in need of assistance from one of the many United Way funded organizations, dial 2-1-1 from any landline phone.
