Two Labor Day parades took place in the Metro East on Monday to celebrate the holiday and the place labor unions hold in the country. The Greater Madison County Federation of Labor held its annual parade in Granite City yesterday. A parade with labor unions from St. Clair County was held in Belleville.
Members of a number of local unions took part in the festivities in Granite City on Monday, which concluded with the annual Labor Day picnic at Wilson Park. A large Labor Day parade also took place yesterday in downtown St. Louis.
