Unions seeking to boost Democratic turnout in next month’s election are making major donations in reference to the ballot question about raising Illinois’ minimum wage.  A new political action committee formed by the Illinois AFL-CIO has apparently been formed to generate support for a "yes" vote on raising the minimum wage to $10 an hour by voters traditionally aligned with Democrats - African Americans, Hispanics, young people and women.

Campaign watchdog groups say the national offices of unions like the IBEW, AFSCME and the International Association of Fire Fighters have contributed nearly all of the 757-thousand-dollars the minimum wage PAC has collected.
