The steady decline in the state’s unemployment rate has leveled off.  The rate stayed at last month’s level of 6.6 percent, ending seven straight months of decline. Illinois Department of Employment Security spokesman Greg Rivara says the streak had to end sometime.  “The rate being unchanged is not surprising”, Rivara said.

“We had such dramatic consecutive monthly declines earlier this year, that you knew we were going to have a level.”  While private employers only added 900 jobs, Rivara says the number of people working or looking for work is at its highest level since November 2008.
