The state is boosting efforts to crack down on people who shouldn’t be collecting unemployment benefits.  Greg Rivara with the Illinois Department of Employment Security says employers will now be required to submit wage reports every month.

Rivara says this will also prevent people from getting Medicaid assistance when they technically earn too much to qualify.  Employers were previously required to submit wage reports once a quarter.  The new system could save hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
