The Illinois Liquor Control Commission has released its June compliance report, and of 364 businesses checked last month in the state, two bars in the Riverbend failed the test. Our Cliffside Inn on Clifton Terrace Road and the Beer Barrel Pub on Montclaire in Godfrey were found to have sold to minors during a check on June 30. Eight other businesses in Madison County refused to sell to the minors.
A team consisting of members of the Illinois State Police, Illinois Secretary of State Police, local police departments and volunteers from high schools and colleges fan out across the state to conduct compliance checks and make sure businesses are not selling alcohol to minors. The groups randomly visit liquor stores, bars and restaurants each month and then report their findings. Of the 364 businesses that were checked last month, 64 were cited for illegal alcohol sales to minors.
