Building and food service workers are continuing to walk picket lines, after rejecting the latest contract offer from the University of Illinois. The strike began at 12:01 a.m. Monday. There are no new bargaining sessions scheduled with the U. of I. at this time. Adam Rosen, spokesman for the Service Employees International Union, says almost every worker walked off the job.

He says there are a small number who did not, and they could face discipline from the union. SEIU field organizer Ricky Baldwin says the strike is causing disruption on campus. The three day strike involving 800 workers will come to a close at midnight on Wednesday night.
