U of I trustees are supporting a raise for Illinois’ athletic director. The proposed increase of Mike Thomas’ base salary to over 550-thousand dollars will be put to a vote later this month. The new contract would include up to 300-thousand dollars each year for meeting goals related to how the teams perform, how much money he raises for the programs, and how well the student athletes do in the classroom. The raise would put Thomas just under the average pay for current Big Ten athletic directors.
