Two Alton residents will spend time in prison for the overdose death of a man in Alton last August. 33 year old Tyrone Adams and 26 year old Cara Moss were each sentenced on Monday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis. They were convicted in the death of 23 year old Leonard Hormann III, who they sold heroin too which then lead to his death.
Both Adams and Moss pled guilty on January 14 to selling heroin to Hormann on August 30, 2012 in Alton. Adams was sentenced to 15 years in jail, while Moss will serve 10 years. Adams also received concurrent 15 year sentences for maintaining drug-involved premises at his home on Powhatten Street, and for distribution of heroin within 1-thousand feet of a school. Moss also received a concurrent 10 year sentence for maintaining drug-involved premises for the home she shared with Adams. The Alton Police Department was credited by the U.S. Attorney for the successful investigation of the case.
