There are two parades with decades-old traditions scheduled for Monday. Well into its second half-century this year will be the Bethalto Memorial Day Parade. This is the 53rd year for the event, while the 145th annual Alton Memorial Day Parade also steps off from the Alton Middle School tomorrow morning.

In Alton, the parade follows the traditional route, and Parade Committee member Stacey Ebrey says the grand marshall is Army Specialist Matthew Gates.

Bethalto Spirit Secretary Kathy Wilson says they are hoping for a good turnout this year, after a near-record last year. The ceremony that follows at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens will feature Jeff Allsman as the speaker.

Mark Ellebracht and Sam Stemm will have live coverage of the Alton parade tomorrow morning on Z-1570 starting at ten. If you live in the Bethalto area, the 52nd annual parade & service will start at the Boys & Girls club at 10:15am.
