Two people have been charged with drug offenses in Jersey County following a brief chase through Jerseyville this week. Police say 34-year-old Jason L. Johnson of Kane was driving the vehicle that led them on the chase Tuesday afternoon. The pursuit lasted about three minutes, according to the city's police chief.
Jerseyville Police Chief Brad Blackorby tells The Big Z his officers originally tried to approach Johnson while on the parking lot near Shop N Save, Dollar General, and McDonald's.

The chase ended after Johnson hit a couple of cars, flattened a tire, and came to a stop near the intersection of East Carpenter and Franklin Streets. No one was injured. Johnson is charged with Delivery of Methamphetamine , Aggravated Fleeing, and almost a dozen other misdemeanor traffic offenses including DUI. A passenger of Johnson's, 28-year-old Sara L. Ewing - Horn, is charged with Unlawful Methamphetamine Conspiracy.
