Work continues on the new walking trail circling Wright Lake at Belk Park in Wood River.  The city hopes to have the project done by the end of summer.  Crews have been laying the rock base in recent weeks, and they are currently gearing up for construction of a bridge that should begin next week.

The bridge should be done by the end of July, if all goes according to plan.  Park & Recreation Director Jason Woody tells The Big Z they have been moving a lot of dirt recently.

The Wood River City Council has approved the low bid of Christ Brothers of Lebanon, Illinois to do the asphalt paving work on the path.  Their bid was just over $65,000, which was about $13,000 lower than the only other bid that was submitted.
