Hunters took more than 15,000 turkeys during the spring harvest season in Illinois.  At 15,484 birds, this was the second year in a row for improved harvest numbers, according to State Department of Natural Resources spokesman Tim Schweizer.

Spring turkey hunting was open in 100 of Illinois' 102 counties during April and the beginning of May.  Top harvest numbers were seen in Jefferson Jo Daviess, Fulton, and Pike counties.
