Donald Trump leads the latest poll for Illinois Republican voters who plan to cast a ballot in the March 15 primary. Trump leads with 28-percent, followed by Ted Cruz at 15 percent, Marco Rubio at 14-percent and John Kasich with 13-percent. The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute conducted the poll last week.
Senator Rubio pulled in a local endorsement over the weekend, picking up the vote of Republican Congressman Rodney Davis of Taylorville. Davis told the editorial board of the State Journal Register in Springfield that he believes Rubio is the best person for the job. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton pulled in 51-percent to Bernie Sanders 32-percent in the poll. Sixteen percent of Democrats reported they were undecided.
